And now for something funny...

Our most recent shipment of Mrs Billings to Helene in Denmark went a little astray!!! It took over six weeks to arrive and when it did - this is how it looked. It didn't look like that when I last saw it! Apparently it is covered on all sides with stamps. Paul and I had quite a giggle when we saw this photo posted by Helene. At least the parcel turned up safe and sound.

This parcel to Petra in the Netherlands arrived in a flash. Only three days travelling with DHL! Sometimes the world seems like a very small place.

Until next time when I will return with Mrs Billings updates,

Dear Jane on display

The lovely ladies from the Australian Quilters Association cut the ribbon to open the spectacular
Dear Jane display at the Box Hill Town Hall last weekend.
Val, Pam and Sonya did the honours and invited us all to enter!

First on the list was a stunning Jane made by Shirley

A revisit with Sonja's Jane (I showed you this one last post! It's still one of my favourites)

This Red and Blue delight is by Robyn, one of our Friday girls.

Lois (aka my Mum) lovely Jane, not quilted unfortunately... I ran out of time!!!!

Adrienne, one of our regular Wednesday girls has been working on this for just over 12 months and is in the middle of hand quilting. I love the use of the darker sashing and border triangles. Can't wait to see this one finished.

Ellen, another Friday girl, has named this quilt 'You Jane, Me Tarzan'.
This Jane is made from lots of animal prints!

There were over 50 Dear Jane's on display, along with a selection of other stunning quilts made by the AQA group.
I wonder where we have seen this one before :-)   Shirley's Mrs Billings is always a pleasure to see.

'Nearly Insane' (above) by Jan and 'Phoebe' (below) by Dorothy

The group put on a wonderful show with lots of truly magnificent quilts to see.

And at the end of every good day out, a lovely cup of tea provided by the quilt show committee.

Congratulations to everyone involved with the organisation of this amazing event. I know there were lots and lots of visitors during the three days both local and from a far. Thank you to Shirley for allowing me to use her photos, and to the ladies who gave their permission to post those photos of their quilts for you to share.
I can't wait to see what this group will display next time!!!!

Until then,

Calling all lovers of Dear Jane...

Do you love Dear Jane? Well have I got something for you!

If you are lucky enough to be in Melbourne this weekend you must come along to the Dear Jane Exhibition
presented by the Australian Quilters Association (AQA).
There will be over 50 Dear Jane's on display. The quilts will be in various states of completion from entirely finished;
quilted with binding, finished tops, large pieced sections and everything in between!

And to whet your appetite....
How is this lovely version by Sonia!

 Plus a close-up!

We had another busy weekend of stitching, the girls were in full flight for another 12 midday to 12 midnight!
Lots of stitching, eating and especially laughing, sorry no photos... next time I promise!

Lots of shopping too. These trolleys were purchased at the local $2 shop.
They were all lined up in a row and called out to be shown!

I am planning my trip to the Dear Jane Quilt Exhibition and will post lots of photos for you to share too.

Until then,

Meet the Friday girls!

Summer School is over for this year and our regular term classes start back next week. The Friday girls kicked off the term with a group photo for you to meet them. They are a very talented group as you may have discovered during the year last year.
I promise to keep the camera at the ready and take loads of photos for you to share this year too!

The girls are oooing and ahhing over a finished quilt, 'Hamilton Place', made by Glenys; all quilted and ready for the binding.

This gorgeous 'Somersby' was made by Adrienne. Also quilted and ready for binding.

Back soon,

Star-a-day with a twist...

We had a special birthday last weekend. The Friday and Thursday girls got together and made Sue J. a quilt featuring lots of small Le Moyne stars. They set them a little differently to our traditional 'star-a-day' project.
I think we all want one of these too!!! My birthday is in May (hint, hint!)

Here are the last of the Summer School projects 'show and tell'. These little hexagons and stars are from the Ring of Roses class. Have a look here at Sue's blog to see the original quilt.

More little hexagons...

And now for an update on the Delectable Mountains block-a-day project for 2013.
Templates are now available and in stock.

Back soon,
